jackie recreates my natural habitat using the kitchen table as a makeshift bar, writing prices of drinks on the chalkboard glued to the wall in different dayglo colors, proudly mentioning happy hour specials while spinning a bottleopener around her finger
jeopardy is playing from a laptop as she opens a beer for me, wiping her hands with a white towel from her pocket, feigning amazement when i answer correctly, saying the sexiest thing a man can do is get the final question in a crowded room
i dont normally drink on the clock, she says pouring herself some brandy and leans on the bar holding up the glass in her other hand, but it/s been one hell of a shift
when do the women show up? i say
i only serve drinks, she says putting the brandy back, not delusions
for my third beer i have to get her attention from the otherside of the kitchen as she plays pokemon on her phone
i dont know, she says, how about some water
this is my fourth round of jeopardy and i/m in the pocket, i say, what sort of support system is this?
one you dont deserve, she says putting down a glass of water, and the best youre going to get until i see some cash on the table
